West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee sparked controversy after she suggested that colleges should stop women from venturing out after dark and women themselves should avoid going out at night. She said this while commenting on alleged gangrape of an MBBS student in Durgapur. The survivor, a native of Odisha, was raped on Friday in an area behind the hospital building.
