Glass bottles contain a higher amount of microplastics than plastic or metal ones, according to a study by the French food safety agency ANSES, published in the Journal of Food Composition and Analysis. Researchers found an average of around 100 microplastic particles per litre in glass bottles—five to 50 times higher than in plastic bottles or metal cans.
