A Lancet health report has revealed that average life expectancy has returned to pre-pandemic levels after years of decline caused by COVID-19. But North America and Latin America are seeing higher death rates among adolescents and young adults due to a crisis in mental health, reflected in higher rates of suicide, drug abuse and excessive alcohol consumption.
