An industry group backed by global liquor firms Diageo and Pernod Ricard has sued Maharashtra government over a tax hike on their affordable brands, Reuters reported. The International Spirits and Wines Association of India has also opposed the exclusion of the companies from a new lower tax category. In June, the state created a new category called "Maharashtra Made Liquor".
