A project led by University of Queensland student Javeria Bashir produced specially crafted gold nanoparticles that can highlight ovarian cancer markers in samples like urine or blood. "Gold particles act like tiny light amplifiers, creating hotspots that reveal even faintest traces of cancer," she said. Bashir said this technology would be particularly beneficial for women in remote regions.
