A Google Maps survey team which was mapping the streets at night in a village in UP's Kanpur was thrashed by villagers who mistook them for thieves. The villagers have been monitoring unfamiliar vehicles entering the area amid rising theft cases and a camera-mounted vehicle raised suspicions. The Google Maps team reportedly didn't inform authorities before conducting the survey.
