New research suggests female gorillas, when moving to a new social group, seek out females they previously lived with, even after years apart. They avoid males they grew up with, indicating past social bonds drive their choices. Group size or sex ratio had little impact compared to these relationships, the study published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B stated.
