Government has approved the opening of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across 17 states/union territories. The project has been allocated a budget of ₹5,862 crore over 9 years, starting 2026-27. The schools, being set up to meet the educational needs of wards of Central Government employees, will have a capacity of 86,640 students. India currently has 1,287 KVs.
