Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the government will never evict "any Indian or Assamese people". He had earlier said the government doesn't consider unauthorised occupation of public land by indigenous people as encroachment, unlike the case with illegal foreigners. He, however, added that the eviction drives will continue against encroachments by suspected foreigners in the state.
