The government on Monday appointed Shirish Chandra Murmu as the Deputy Governor of RBI, effective from October 9, for a three-year tenure, reports stated. He is currently serving as Executive Director of the apex bank, overseeing the supervision department. Murmu's portfolio allocation is yet to be announced, while he will replace M Rajeshwar Rao, who will retire on October 8.
