PIB Fact Check has flagged a fake email from the Income Tax Department asking taxpayers to manually verify attached documents. The email falsely claims that the taxpayer is eligible for a ₹50,000 refund and refunds above ₹25,000 need authorisation. "Do not click on suspicious links or share personal, financial, or sensitive information via email, SMS, or call," it said.
