The government announced that the interest rates on small savings schemes will remain unchanged for the third straight quarter, starting October 1, as per a finance ministry notification. Interest rates on Public Provident Fund, Post Office Savings Deposit and National Savings Certificate stand at 7.1%, 4% and 7.7%, respectively. The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana will have an interest rate of 8.2%.
