The government has proposed to make it mandatory for manufacturers to provide two helmets when a new two-wheeler is purchased. As per the official notification, this will come into force "three months from...date of commencement of Central Motor Vehicles (----Amendment) Rules, 2025". It also proposed that new L2 vehicles should be fitted with Anti-Lock Braking System from January 1, 2026.
