Centre has withdrawn approval for the sale of 11 animal protein-based biostimulants due to "religious and dietary" concerns, reported The Indian Express. They were derived from chicken feathers, pig tissue, bovine hide and cod scales. Several complaints were made to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's office by "individuals" from Hindu and Jain communities, it added.
