The government will compensate highway operators and investors for revenue losses caused by the new FASTag-based annual pass scheme, launching 15 August, 2025. The ₹3,000 annual pass allows 200 trips for private vehicles. A compensation framework is being finalised to protect investor interests as the scheme aims to make highway travel cheaper and more convenient for regular commuters.
