The Department of Telecommunications has questioned Jio and Airtel for discontinuing their cheapest 1GB/day data plans, citing affordability concerns. Both operators defended the move, saying it was based on market analysis. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also been asked to review the issue and submit a report.
