The government's outstanding debt on sovereign gold bonds (SGBs) has reached a record ₹1.5 lakh crore amid gold's powerful rally. According to Financial Express calculations, the debt on the 126 tonnes of outstanding SGBs has jumped by around 200%. Gold crossed the ₹1.3 lakh per 10-gram mark in Delhi for the first time on Tuesday.
