Centre has approved the release of 25 lakh additional deposit-free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during FY26. An expenditure of ₹676 crore has been approved for the same. With this expansion, the total number of PMUY connections will rise to 10.58 crore. The scheme was originally launched with a target of 8 crore connections in 2016.
