Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who is in Italy, planted a tree on the occasion of World Environment Day under PM Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative. Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, joined Goyal in the initiative. Tajani called the initiative a "fantastic idea" and said that Indian traditions remain extremely positive for the world.
