FIDE has revoked Ukraine-born Romanian chess player Kirill Shevchenko’s Grandmaster title and imposed a three-year ban, with one year suspended, for cheating. He was caught hiding a smartphone in bathroom during Spanish Team Championship in October 2024 and using Lichess. Shevchenko was once ranked 75th. He has become the strongest Grandmaster to be banned by FIDE for cheating.
