Karnataka Commercial Taxes Department (CTD) responded to multiple vendors in Bengaluru putting up 'No UPI, only cash' posters after 14,000 businesses with over ₹40-lakh annual turnover via UPI payments got GST evasion notices. CTD said GST is applicable to all payments, whether made via UPI or cash. "We'll take suitable action...on traders who've received consideration in any form," it added.
