Gujarat Assembly has passed a Bill amending the Factories Act, 1948. The Bill extends industrial work timings to 12 hours/day from the existing nine hours, and allows women to work night shifts between 7 pm and 6 am with adequate safety measures. Under it, workers are entitled to two days' paid leave if they work 48 hours in four days.
