HAL has inked a $1 billion deal with GE for 113 F404-GE-IN20 engines for the LCA Mk1A fighter jets. The deal includes support for 97 aircraft under the Indian Air Force programme. HAL aims to deliver the first batch by March 2026. Negotiations continue for 200 engines for LCA Mk2 and AMCA, while India seeks indigenous fighter engine development.
