Speaking about a Thane man being beaten for allegedly refusing to speak in Marathi, Maharashtra Minister Yogesh Kadam said a person has to speak in Marathi in the state. "If you don't know Marathi, your attitude shouldn't be that you won't speak Marathi," he stated. Kadam added the people who beat the man shouldn't take "law into their own hands".
