Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued directions to ban the single-use plastics in hilly areas, government functions and weddings in Kerala. Banned items include food containers, plates, cups, straws, cutlery, sachets and bakery boxes made of plastic. The HC order stated, "This ban shall not apply to 5 litre plastic water bottles and 2 litre plastic soft drink bottles."
