Heavy rains on Japan's southern main island of Kyushu caused flooding and mudslides, injuring several and leaving some missing, impacting travel during the Buddhist holiday week. A low-pressure system brought more rain to northern Kyushu. Authorities issued top-level warnings in Kumamoto and ordered evacuation advisories to tens of thousands across Kumamoto and six other prefectures.
