Hemoglobin molecules found preserved in T rex dinosaur fossils
short by Swati Dubey / on 23 Sep 2025,Tuesday
Researchers have identified haemoglobin and its iron-rich heme group molecules in fossils of Tyrannosaurus rex and Brachylophosaurus canadensis. Using Resonance Raman spectroscopy, they detected heme bound to globin proteins and iron oxide minerals. The finding shows how certain biomolecules can persist in exceptional fossils and chemically change over millions of years.
