The trademarks owned by luxury brand Hermès, including its Birkin bag, have been recognised as "well-known marks" in India by Delhi High Court. This came after Hermès filed trademark infringement case against Macky Lifestyle, alleging advertisement of lookalike handbags without consent. Hermès claimed that its Birkin bag acquired international reputation through decades of exclusive association.
