Amid pressure from US, Lebanon's government has tasked the army with establishing a state monopoly on arms by the end of the year. The move would effectively disarm Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militant group in Lebanon. Calling it a "grave sin", Hezbollah said, "This decision fully serves Israel's interest," adding it would "deal with it as if it does not exist".
