High BP in childhood linked to higher death risk in mid-50s: Study

A recent study suggested that children who had higher blood pressure at age seven could have an increased risk of dying from heart disease in mid-50s. Both elevated blood pressure and hypertension were linked with about a 40-50% higher risk of early cardiovascular death in adulthood. The study highlights the importance of screening for blood pressure in childhood.
