Children as young as seven with elevated blood pressure face a 40% to 50% higher risk of premature cardiovascular death by midlife, a study found. Researchers analysed data from over 37,000 children in the US Collaborative Perinatal Project study (1959–1965). "Results of this study support monitoring blood pressure as an important metric of cardiovascular health in childhood," an expert said.
