During an event at a college in Chennai, former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin stated that Hindi is not the national language of India, but an official language. Ashwin made the comment after most of the students remained quiet when he asked the crowd if he should speak in Hindi, in case they were not proficient in English or Tamil.
