Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said Hindi should be introduced as the third language from Class 5 in the state schools, instead of the proposed Class 1. "Students should learn Marathi from Class 1 and be able to read and write it fluently," he said, adding that it's inappropriate to burden students with an additional language at an early stage.
