The Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) criticised the university's decision to replace the vice-chancellor's title 'Kulpati' with 'Kulguru'. "We understand your urgency to change the designation as a move towards gender neutrality. (But) Symbolic gestures alone cannot ensure gender justice; fundamental transformation requires institutional reforms," the statement by the union said.
