Hot rocky exoplanets or lava planets can melt/vaporise silicate rocks, which are Earth's most common minerals, making up about 90% of its crust, scientists reported in a new study. This occurs as lava planets have a unique orbital design of always showing one face to their star, which makes their dayside surfaces reach temperatures high enough to liquefy rocks.
