Households spent around ₹2,863/ student on government school education during the current academic year, as compared to ₹25,002/ student on private school education, a government survey has revealed. Household expenditure on private schools is 8.7 times more than on government schools. Government schools account for 55.9% of total national enrolment, while in rural areas it's 66%, the survey said.
