Swallowing a bee can trigger severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) in individuals sensitive to bee venom, experts said. If a bee stings tongue, throat or airway, venom can cause swelling, breathing difficulty and sudden drop in blood pressure. Without medical attention, the reaction can lead to cardiac arrest. Industrialist Sunjay Kapur died of cardiac arrest after accidentally swallowing a bee.
