The under-water volcano's eruption injected vast amounts of volcanic aerosols and water vapour into the atmosphere, increasing stratospheric water content by 10%. Historically, data suggests volcanic aerosols cool Earth by blocking sunlight, which wasn't the case in the submarine eruption.
