Air India plane's black box survived after crash despite being engulfed in 1,000°C inferno. Black boxes are encased in robust materials like titanium or stainless steel, which provide structural strength against extreme impact forces- up to 3,400 times the force of gravity. They are insulated to withstand intense heat, surviving temperatures as high as 1,100°C for at least one hour.
