US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner travelled to Egypt along with senior envoy Steve Witkoff to lead negotiations on Gaza peace deal. Kushner, who had advised Trump on Middle East during Trump's first term, reportedly advised Israel to adopt an optimistic approach to talks with Hamas, focusing on potential breakthroughs. Kushner had also helped broker Abraham Accords in 2020.
