Most pizzas are high in simple carbohydrates, saturated fats and sodium, therefore eating leftover pizza in the morning on an empty stomach "can lead to rapid spike in blood glucose levels, followed by a sharp drop", registered dietitian Deepalakshmi said. Consultant Clinical Dietitian Pooja Bhave also noted that pizza causes "higher blood sugar spike compared to other healthy breakfast foods".
