To survive a nuclear bomb, for a moderate 10-20 kiloton explosion, being within 0.8 km of ground zero means survival is unlikely due to lethal heat and radiation, according to Radiation Emergency Medical Management (REMM). At 1.6-3.2 km, radiation exposure is survivable with prompt medical care. Beyond 6.4 km, radiation risk is minimal.
