Researchers have discovered that human sperm and some algae swim through a viscous fluid while defying Newton's third law of motion, which states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. According to the study, published in PRX Life, sperm tails and algal flagella have an "odd elasticity" that allows them to push forward without losing energy.
