In a married couple, the husband's self-esteem, confidence and optimism may play a key role in lowering the risk of preterm births, according to a study published in the journal Biopsychosocial Science and Medicine. A preterm birth or delivery before 37 weeks is a leading cause of infant mortality. This link, however, was not found in unmarried couples.
