A Hyderabad man, Ramachandra Appari, quit his job in 2010 to save trees and spearhead an initiative towards their re-plantation. Appari, who has a masters in agriculture, has replanted approximately 1.5 lakh trees using the ancient method of tree translocation. Appari's initiative managed to save 800 trees from being felled during an expansion project of Hyderabad metro.
