Reacting to Shreyas Iyer's exclusion from the Asia Cup 2025 squad, his father Santosh said, "I don’t know what else Shreyas has to do to make it to India T20I team." He added, "He has been performing so well in IPL year after year." He further said, "I'm not saying make him captain, but at least select him in team."
