Former RCB owner Vijay Mallya recalled during a podcast that while bidding for franchises ahead of the inaugural IPL edition, he lost the Mumbai franchise by a very small amount. "I bought Bengaluru franchise for $112 million because I believed in the potential," he said. "I handpicked players who could make RCB a powerhouse," he further said.
