Chitrangda Singh recalled a period of personal and professional turmoil when she took a major break from the industry. She revealed, "I've made those mistakes. I said no to Anurag Basu's 'Gangster'. I refused 'Tanu Weds Manu'...'Mangal Pandey'... [and] 'Chalte Chalte'." The actress took a 9-year break from films, seven for birth of her son and two for personal issues.
