Scientists at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) have developed a first-of-its-kind pigeonpea variety, ICPV 25444, that can withstand extreme heat and matures in just 125 days. This new variety yields up to 2 tons per hectare, even under temperatures as high as 45 degree Celsius.
