Dismissing a man's appeal for divorce on grounds of cruelty, Madhya Pradesh High Court recently praised his wife's conduct, who, despite being deserted for nearly two decades, never gave up symbols of her marriage. The court said that "an ideal Indian wife, even when deserted by her husband, continues to embody strength, dignity and virtue".
